Total Solar Eclipse of 1998 February 26
This is a Web implementation of the NASA Eclipse Bulletin for the
1998 February 26 total solar eclipse. The hardcopy NASA Reference Publications
are at best in short supply, and in any case the Web is probably the best
medium for the dissemination of this information, especially for those
people with network access who do not really need hardcopies of every page
(though you can use your Web viewer to make hardcopies as needed).
You can start with the
table of contents, the
list of figures, the
list of tables, or the
list of maps. Since we
generally do not have time to add more than the most simple-minded of
hypertext links to the text (e.g. linking consecutive sections of the
Bulletin and the sections to the table of contents), we recommend using the
table of contents as
the most useful entry point.
NASA Reference Publication 1369
(
1997 March 9 total solar eclipse), is also available via the Web.
The original Microsoft Word for Macintosh files, Microsoft Word for Windows
versions of the same files, as well as the figures, maps, and tables, are
available via
anonymous ftp.
The original hardcopy Bulletin, NASA Reference Publication 1383, was written by
Fred Espenak (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland, USA) and
Jay Anderson (Prairie Weather Center, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada). You can
request hardcopies of individual Eclipse Bulletins from the authors (see
the projected publication schedule in the
preface by using the
request form in
this Bulletin. Note that you must include a SASE (self-addressed, stamped
envelope) with postage for 11 ounces (310 grams) with your request. Do not
send cash or checks!
You can also view
animations of the centerline and penumbral shadow extent for the total
solar eclipse of 1998 February 26 in various formats.
